The House Smells Of Garlic

Do you ever find the smell of garlic to increase your appetite? I do. And tonight especially so, as I started a wine that is most definitely not made for sipping – but if you truly want to call yourself a “gourmet” cook, perhaps you’ll want to consider winemaking for this particular wine alone.

Yes, a garlic wine that is meant for marinades or a salad dressing base. You can find my recipe and instructions, based on the one found in Making Wild Wines & Meads over here, entitled Garlic Wine.

Ever try anything like this yourself?

I’ve read the book that you got that recipe out of. Very excellent book. I got my first idea for a mead out of it and surprisingly it wasn’t bad. Garlic wine? Might taste better if you mix it with Basil Wine and call it Pesto Wine and serve it with pasta. ;)

    Keep up the good work.

Thanks for your comment, Ben. Which mead did you make, and how long did you age it for?

I’ll let you know how this garlic wine turns out!

I have tried onion wine from a Pennsylvania winery at a wine festival, but never garlic wine. Sounds very interesting. I don’t know how you find the time to do all that you do. Do you have any aspirations of starting your own winery or working as a winemaker for a winery? It sounds like you have the energy and passion necessary and are gaining the experience to go that route.

Thanks for your comment, WW. I think it would be great to have my own small winery – with a bit of land where I could plant a small vineyard and some berry bushes – but but I don’t think I’d want to get into anything large.

As far as the time – I seldom watch television :)
